INTRODUCTION TO REFLEXOLOGY
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy suitable for all ages. It’s based on the principle that areas of the feet relate to different parts and organs of the body. Reflexologists apply pressure to these points, removing blockages and encouraging energy to flow freely. This induces relaxation and restores balance to body and mind by bringing them both into alignment.
Reflexology is recognised by the NHS with an increasing number of GPs and hospices now referring patients to reflexologists.
HOW CAN REFLEXOLOGY HELP ME?
Reflexology can be effective for treating or managing:
Improving energy, reducing fatigue
Back pain, muscular pain
Hormone imbalances, fertility issues
Improving general well-being
THE HISTORY OF REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, although it wasn’t introduced to the West until Dr William Fitzgerald developed 'Zone Therapy'. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were intrinsically linked to other areas and organs of the body.
In the1930's, Eunice Ingham developed this ‘Zone Theory’ into what’s now known as reflexology. Her opinion was that blockages or tension in the areas of the feet, were mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENT?
Your first appointment includes an in-depth consultation where we discuss your general health, medical history and lifestyle. After which, I develop an individual treatment plan tailored specifically to you and your requirements. This is also a great time to ask any questions and to discuss what you’d like to achieve from the sessions.
HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT LAST?
The first session will last approximately 1hr 30mins, with subsequent treatments lasting for 1-hour.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE TREATMENTS?
Most clients benefit from weekly treatments, and this is my recommendation for optimal results.
Treatment cost ranges from £45 - £75

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF...
My name is Richard Gunn (MAR) and I’m a certified reflexologist. I’m originally from Bath, and have been living in, and treating clients in London for the last 6 years.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A REFLEXOLOGIST?
I grew up around holistic medicine, with lots of my family practicing it in various forms, and I remember seeing the beneficial effects of it from a young age. Reflexology enables me to help people and make lasting changes.
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER PRACTITIONERS?
Each reflexologist is different, and we all bring our own individual approach to the client. I like to think that I’m naturally intuitive when it comes to sensing people’s needs and I also have a strong touch which is beneficial during treatments.
ARE YOU FULLY QUALIFIED?
Yes. I’m a full member of the Association of Reflexologists.
WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING AS A REFLEXOLOGIST, WHAT DO YOU DO?
I enjoy getting away from city life and like to head back home to Bath when I can. I’m a keen motorcyclist, and am actively involved with running and organising bike shows across Europe. As well as this, I can also be found organising and running reflexology retreats across the UK. In fact, if you’d like more information on any of the retreats, just let me know.
